6 Days Mt Kilimanjaro Climbing

We use the Marunga route which is the easiest and the most accessible.

Day 1:
Arrive at Taveta border town at 0900hrs. Continue to Arusha for lunch after immigration
Formalities. Drive to Moshi where the afternoon is spent organizing climbing gear. Dinner and overnight at springs lands Hotel, Moshi

Day 2
After breakfast, drive 45km to Marunga gate, an attitude of 1,860m walk 9km to Mandara hut, 2,744m. (9.00ft) through the dense semi-tropical rain forest, for your first overnight on Kilimanjaro. Meals and overnight at the hut.

Day 3
Start early morning for a 10 hour walk towards Horombo. The landscape becomes more rugged and rocky but superb with both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks in view. You spend your second night on the mountain at Horombo hut an attitude of 3,761m. (12,33ft)

Day 4
Take a tiring 13km walk which takes 6hrs to Chiba hut 4,732m (15,520dft) above sea level. Spectacular Mountain like giant cactus, groundsel and lobelia appears. Meals and overnight at the hut.

Day 5
The final attempt to the summit is made in the early hours of the morning at 2.00am. it takes about five hours to climb the steepest and most difficult part of the route to Gilman’s point, 5681m (19630ft). From Gilman’s, it takes 2 hours to Uhuru peak 5,896m (19,344ft6), the highest point in Africa. Descend to Horombo for dinner and overnight.

Day 6
After breakfast, drive to Taveta border town for your journey to Mombasa arriving in the afternoon.
